Mary Forney

Artist, Teacher, Maker

Art making is an act of discovery. Mary has enjoyed the creative process in many of its forms over the years.  She grew up in the Midwest and has lived most of her adult life in Minnesota. The last 25 years, her art finds inspiration from discovering the Driftless Region with its unique landforms and beautiful scenery.

Mary completed her undergraduate work at Concordia University in Seward, NE.  She has had the opportunity to share the act of discovery through teaching students all ages from grade school to college. She earned her M.A. in Studio Art from the UW Superior. Teaching is a natural extension of the creative process, to her.  She enjoys sharing the creative act of discovery with others.

Painting and drawing are the foundation of her work.  She has expanded into printmaking and collage and continues to enjoy moving across media to keep her ideas and work fresh and exciting.

Mary has exhibited and taught throughout Minnesota.  Her work can currently be found at Stump Town Gallery in Alma, WI.
